Introducing Avery “The Voice” Jones! Avery joined the J&R National Team family back in August of 2020 and has been riding BMX since she was about 8 years old. She got her start hanging around the track watching her brothers ride. “My brothers were racing, and I was doing gymnastics,” she remembers, “I was bored at races so my dad told me to pick up a bike.”
With 7 years of experience on the track, Avery knows quite a bit about the challenges of racing. She says for her, the biggest challenge is, “Getting mentally focused before each lap.” And her favorite part of competing? “Winning,” she says. Facing challenges head-on and conquering them is enough to be proud of but Avery’s proudest accomplishment on the track so far is, “Riding for my country on Team USA.”
Like so many of us, the upcoming race Avery is most excited about is Worlds in Rock Hill. “It will be awesome racing on our home soil,” she says. Avery’s favorite track to race on is Derby City BMX in Louisville, KY because, “It flows so well.” And when looking for a little extra racing inspiration, she turns to her favorite BMX rider, Bethany Shriever. “She’s a bad ass,” Avery says.
We look forward to seeing you up on the podium, Avery! Best of luck from the whole J&R Family!
